PostgreSQL is an open-source object-relational database system focusing on extensibility and SQL compliance. It features transactions with ACID properties and powerful add-ons such as PostGIS, a geospatial database extension.
Availability
Every PostgreSQL database is run in a high-availability cluster with two replicas for storage. In the event of a server failure, the database will automatically failover.
Backups
Automated backups are taken daily and retained for 7 days. Backups are safely stored in external cloud storage.

Security
SSL connections are enabled by default. Private network isolation can be enabled for additional security.
